MATJHABENG ACTING MAYOR JOINS THE CALL FOR JUSTICE IN CWECWE MARCH

The Acting Executive Mayor of Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Cllr. Hlobohang Mokhomo, alongside the Chief Whip, Cllr. Mamiki Setabela-Lesenyeho, and senior municipal officials, stood in solidarity with the Justice for CweCwe March held today in Welkom.

This powerful demonstration brought together communities from all six towns of Matjhabeng, united in their call to end child abuse and demand justice for CweCwe.

Addressing the gathered crowd, Acting Mayor Mokhomo commended the organisers for mobilising the community around such a critical cause. He emphasised the urgent need for men to take an active stance against the scourge of gender-based violence (GBV) and the Abuse of children, which continues to devastate families and communities....

"Men must not remain silent in the face of these injustices. We must rise against the evil of GBV that continues to creep into our communities and destroy the lives of our women and children," he declared.

He further expressed his unwavering support for the march and joined the collective voices from across Matjhabeng, Lejweleputswa, the Free State, and the entire country in demanding justice for CweCwe.

His participation reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to advocating for safer communities and ensuring that perpetrators of violence against children are held accountable.
