MAYORAL COMMITTEE REVIEWS KEY PERFORMANCE AND SERVICE DELIVERY REPORTS
The Mayoral Committee (MAYCO), chaired by the Executive Mayor Thanduxolo Khalipha, recently convened to review a
comprehensive set of institutional reports aimed at enhancing performance, strengthening governance, and improving
service delivery across the Matjhabeng Local Municipality.
Central to the meeting was a detailed performance overview presented by the Acting Municipal Manager, which included an
update on the implementation of the 2024 Strategic Plan and the status of current strategic resolutions.
The Committee also engaged robustly with the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget schedules, reports on grant
expenditure, and the latest outcomes from the Auditor-General—highlighting both institutional strengths and areas
requiring targeted intervention.
Key human resource matters were also presented, including reports on employee-related costs, headcount status,
disciplinary processes, and staff resignations. A recently conducted skills audit provided insights into capacity
development and workforce planning.
The Finance Department provided updates on budgetary performance, expenditure trends, and a thorough analysis of all
outsourced services.
Reports from the Local Economic Development Unit emphasised progress on anchor projects that are expected to drive local
economic growth and employment creation.
The Committee also assessed the status of spatial planning and human settlement projects, alongside updates on essential
community services. This included briefings on the municipality’s security plan, cemetery developments, and weekly
service delivery performance reports. Special focus was given to road and infrastructure projects, ongoing interventions
under the Vaal Central Water.
Additionally, the Ward-Based Service Delivery Programme featured prominently, reflecting the municipality’s commitment
to responsive, community-driven service delivery.
These deliberations underscore Matjhabeng Local Municipality’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and
operational excellence. Certain sensitive operational details have been withheld to safeguard internal processes and
