Residents with outstanding municipal accounts of R20,000 or more are eligible for a 40% discount upon full and final settlement.
Businesses and farms with outstanding municipal accounts of R50,000 or more are eligible for a 40% discount upon full and final settlement. Please note: Residents who have previously benefitted from Section 118 of the Municipal Property Rates Act (MPR) are not eligible for this doscount.
On the 29th of August 2024, the Council of Matjhabeng Local Municipality convened, chaired by the Acting Speaker, Honourable Mphikeleli.
Among other matters discussed, the Council passed a resolution introducing the following discounts for full and final settlement of debts owed for more than 90 days:
• Residents with outstanding municipal accounts of R20,000 or more are eligible for a 40% discount upon full and final settlement.
• Businesses and farms with outstanding municipal accounts of R50,000 or more are eligible for a 40% discount upon full and final settlement.
Please note: Residents who have previously benefited from Section 118 of the Municipal Property Rates Act (MPR) are not eligible for this discount.
This discount offer is valid until the end of November 2024.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to visit the finance departments in their respective areas to take advantage of this offer.

This interruption is necessary to allow Eskom and the Matjhabeng Local Municipality to perform the annual maintenance of the electrical intake point serving the affected areas.
