The visit, conducted by the NCOP in collaboration with the Executive Council (EXCO) and a delegation from the Legislature, focused on an in-depth evaluation of incomplete and delayed infrastructure projects in Odendaalsrus and Welkom. Particular attention was given to the following critical projects:...
•SAPS Odendaalsrus Police Station: The refurbishment has remained incomplete for over three years due to contractor changes, leaving the facility in a deteriorating condition.
• Leboneng Special School (Thabong): This school for learners with special needs is 97% complete, with final inspections underway.
•Thandabantu Clinic (Thabong): The project is near completion, with final touch-ups and utility connections expected to be finished by December 2024.
•Kopano Hospital Complex (Welkom): The facility is currently in a state of disrepair and is being converted into a residential complex. The project has faced significant delays throughout its cycle.
• G Hostel Construction: Intended to house 700 people, this project has experienced delays due to contractor changes and substandard workmanship but is now progressing under new management.
