Visit to Big Frank Pump Station in Odendaalsrus, Block A.
The Big Frank Pump Station in Odendaalsrus, Block A, was one of the stations that suffered vandalism, leading to significant sewer spillages in the area.
Thanks to the proactive efforts of the current leadership, financial support and intervention were secured from the Department of Water and Sanitation.
As a result, the Big Frank Pump Station is now undergoing refurbishment, with completion expected in the coming months, alongside other pump stations across Matjhabeng....
This intervention is a key component of the Municipality's broader plan to address and resolve sewer challenges.

The Night Shift teams from Waste Management were hard at work in the CBD, preparing the town for tomorrow's daily activities by keeping the streets clean and well-maintained.

The Matjhabeng Local Municipality hosted the Free State Premier, Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae, along with the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Saki Mokoena, and the MEC for Community Safety, Roads, and Transport, Jabu Mbalula, today.
The purpose of the Premier’s visit was to monitor, support, and provide oversight on the state of service delivery in Matjhabeng.
In her opening remarks, the Premier emphasised the importance of delivering quality services to the residents of Matjhabeng. She also committed to providing the necessary support to improve service delivery in the municipality....
Furthermore, she urged Councillors to serve their communities diligently, reminding them that they were elected by these very communities.
In his response, the Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr. Hlobohang Mokhomo, expressed gratitude for the visit and the ongoing support from the Provincial Government.
He also noted that 24 contractors have been appointed for the refurbishment of pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, and sewer lines, with 50 more to be appointed.
He reiterated the municipality’s commitment to monitoring the progress of these projects to ensure that timelines are met and quality standards are upheld.
Both the Provincial Government and Matjhabeng Municipality acknowledged the sanitation challenges faced by the municipality and its residents.

The Matjhabeng Local Municipality's Sewer Team in Odendaalsrus is currently working to clear sewer blockages in Block A, ensuring the proper functioning of the sewage system in the area.
Additionally, we visited the Big Frank Pump Station, as well as Goutrief 1 and 2, to check on the progress of their refurbishment projects.

Residents in several areas, including Thabong Far East (Wards 17, 13, and 29), have been experiencing low water supply for about a week now.
We have been in contact with officials from Vaal Central, who have confirmed that the water supply is operating according to the daily schedule, which opens at 05:00 and closes at 17:00.
Our teams are actively inspecting critical areas to identify and address any issues with control valves that may be isolating these affected areas.
To assist those experiencing low or no water supply, water carts are being dispatched to the impacted locations.
Please note that some parts of the main town in Welkom are also beginning to experience low water pressure.
